Dr. Jeff Berry

DVM, Diploma ABVP

Dr. Berry grew up in Southampton and, after 6 years at Vet College and 2 years practicing on Vancouver Island, he returned to his hometown with his wife of 20 years, Rhonda MacDonald. Together they have 4 children: Gabrielle, Bronwyn, Charlotte and Josephine. Their children keep them busy with everything from track and hockey to skiing and musical theatre. The Berry’s may even have a possible vet in the making, as Josephine is quite certain she will take over the practice someday.

As a young child, Dr. Berry wanted to be a zookeeper and since then has always wanted to work with animals. He considers himself extremely fortunate to be able to pursue his dreams and to make a career that combines pet care and problem solving, which are two of his favourite things. He especially enjoys orthopedic surgery, endoscopy and ultrasound and has certified twice as a specialist in canine and feline practice.

The Berry household is home to 2 feline and 1 canine family members. Smokey and Dot are rescue cats that live the good life ruling the roost at the Berry home. Deferring to the cats is Titan, the not so fierce retired police dog who was injured and couldn’t go back to work and is now Dr. Berry’s constant companion. In his spare time, Dr. Berry enjoys spending time with his family, canoeing in Algonquin Park and fishing.

Dr. Zach Jones

Dr. Zach Jones is an associate veterinarian at the Southampton Pet Hospital and has been part of our team since early 2014.  He grew up in the small town of Thamesford, Ontario, where he spent many summers working for local farms and veterinary offices. Even at a very young age, Zach spent much of his time volunteering & working inside of a vet clinic which was owned by family friends.  It was during this time that he developed a keen interest in animal care, veterinary science, and the human-animal bond.  After receiving his Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry and Animal Biology he was accepted to the prestigious Ontario Veterinary College where he completed his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree in 2014.

Dr. Zach is always committed to delivering the best level of care to his patients.  He is constantly reading up on new techniques, attending seminars/webinars, and picking Dr. Berry’s brain in order to learn more and better the life of his patients.  As such, his primary goals are to promote the general health and wellbeing of pets and to nurture the relationship his clients have with their animals.  Professionally, his special interests include dentistry, ultrasonography, feline medicine, and surgery.  In his personal life, Dr. Zach enjoys spending time with his long-time girlfriend Dr. Helen (who is also a veterinarian) and his family and friends.  He has a very energetic jack russell terrier named J.P and an enigmatic orange-tabby named Spanky.  He is an avid snowboarder, but also loves motorcycling, camping, and continually seasoning his skills as a master chef.
